Multiple Sclerosis is a bitch of a disease. It attacks people and takes away youth and agility.  As a society we are working on fighting the disease and helping those afflicted, just not quickly enough.   I spent today with my sister-in-law who has MS.  She is lovely and has a great attitude–but attitude and effort can only go so far.  Just as in your daily life.

During breakfast I got a reminder that sometimes we have to look at things with new eyes.   I was told about how difficult it is to be given a “one size fits all” or miss-sized wheelchair.  I don’t think about wheelchairs often, but they are important.   When wrong they hurt your hips, make your hands go numb, etc.  My lovely sister-in-law has suffered with this for years and recently was told by someone who really understood wheelchairs that it was the wrong size.  This was causing her pain in ways that she didn’t need to be hurting.  I asked what was the worst thing and she simply stated, “Its not your chair.”

Get the chair right and life becomes better and more fulfilling.  When its your chair, it fits…it works…it’s better!

If you are working hard, keeping a good attitude about life and still struggling.  Check the your tools (be they wheelchairs, tools, habits, etc.) and make sure they are “Yours” and that they fit who you want to be.  A few simple changes will make a huge change in your quality of life–or in the quality of life of someone you love.
